We’ll also explore the wellness benefits of forest bathing and how the embodied movement art of qigong could be the perfect compliment to your nordic walks.

As qualified strength coaches with British Weight Lifting and GB Powerlifting we can support your enjoyment of nordic walking with specific advice and plans to build strength and improve your balance.

We aim to inspire confidence, help you have fun, learn new skills, make friends, improve your fitness and build strength for life.

Helen Parsons

Hi, I have a MSc in Occupational Therapy and I’m HCPC registered and BSc Sport, Health, Exercise and Nutrition degree.

I’m passionate about evidence-based practice for supporting people with their health and wellness.

I really enjoy the embodied movements of tai chi and qigong. They make the perfect compliment to the fitness benefits of nordic walking.

I love gardening and getting outdoors as much as I can.

As a GB Powerlifting Coach I like to pick up heavy things and put them down again to stay strong and keep my bones healthy.

I enjoy the physical and mental challenge of Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and exploring floor-based animal-flow exercises.

Philip Sheridan

Hi, I’ve recently retired from a range of roles teaching and facilitating various subjects at the School of Medicine, University of Leeds.

I’m a passionate outdoorsman with a lifetime of skills learnt from childhood and with indigenous people as I hitchhiked around the world when I left school.

In 2002, I survived a near fatal road accident leaving me very badly injured and the amputation of my right leg. As someone living with a disability nordic walking has opened up the world to me.

I’ve studied, practised and taught taijiquan, qigong, and other martial arts over 37 years.

I’m a qualified strength coach with both British Weightlifting and GB Powerlifting Strength Coach.

And Patron to VX Global, as well as a speaker, mentor and coach, published poet, blogger and writer.
